FEEDBACK ON CLUB HAPPENINGS THE PAST 6 MONTHS:
- The breed seminar in December 2008 was very educational and interesting. Thanks to Liz Megginson for the valuable info on the breed.
- Future of the club: Francie van Rensburg, the chairperson of the RRCFS has resigned. At the above mentioned meeting, a unanimous decision was made that the club should continue. The remaining committee members considered the possibility of moving the club address from the Free State to Gauteng. Majority of the club members are based in Gauteng and a move to Gauteng will have enabled us to host more events in the Gauteng area. Unfortunately this request was rejected by KUSA.”Unfortunately, the Federal Council recently made a ruling that there can be no transferring of clubs between centres in future” Mr. G. Eva, President KUSA, Friday 8 May 2009.
- Newsletters and the RRCFS website: Many members do not seem to read the newsletters. In future, the RRCFS website will be used to communicate with members. The website should be a showcase of the club and the breed. It will be used to educate interested parties regarding the Ridgeback, advertise breeders and litters and relay general information of happenings in the Rhodesian Ridgeback world.
Unfortunately we had mayor problems with the previous service provider hosting the website, and this caused a lengthy delay in the” relaunch” of the website.
The website www.ridgebackclub.org.za is now on air again!!! We have a new webmaster, rearing to go, but we need your input and help! Please let us know what you would like on the website, send stories and pictures, and give us feedback, positive and negative! The website is still “under construction”. Please help us to make it a stunning site! All contributions can be sent to:

SPECIAL PROMOTION!!!!!BREEDER AND LITTER ADVERTISING.
(Club members, KUSA registered dogs only!)
Breeders and all puppy listings will be put on the website for free until end of September 2009, provided that you pay the annual club membership fees of R100.00!
Breeders that wish to advertise their kennel on the RRCFS website must send the following info to the webmaster ;.
Kennel name, name and contact details of the breeder, registered name of the dog/s used for breeding as well as the sire and dam of the breeding dog, plus a photo of the mentioned dogs if possible. Breeders need to update information on a yearly basis.
Breeders that would like to advertise their puppies, under LITTERS, must send the following info to the webmaster: Names of the parents of the pups, whelping date and a photo of the pups if possible, as well as all the contact details of the breeder.
WEBSITE RATES:
Kennel / breeders advertisement: R10.00 per dog (info only) R10.00 per photo.
Litter advertisement: R50-00 per litter (info only); R10.00 per photo.

- Rescue dogs. Liz Penprase, the club’s puppy finder and rescue coordinator, has been inundated with rescue dogs. We can not thank her enough for all the hard and wonderful work she is doing. She really goes the extra mile to re-home the dogs and follow up on their progress. Thanks Liz! We would like to appeal to all breeders, to educate potential new RR owners and to place puppies with care.
- Membership fees. Reminders for the renewal of membership fees were not sent out for the financial year 2008/2009. Unfortunately the club does not have other means of income and membership fees have to be paid. Membership fees are used to pay for the website, KUSA affiliation fees etc. In future, a budget to assist with the rescue dogs, will have to be considered. Reminders for the renewal of membership fees for 2009/ 2010 will be sent out at the end of July. The club’s financial year is from August to July. Membership fees remain R100.00 per annum.
- Books for sale: The club has managed to get a few more copies of the book “Rhodesian Ridgeback Pioneers” by Linda Costa.
We also have a few copies of the “Handbook of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club (The Parent Club – Founded 1922)”. This is a lovely manual about the breed, the breed standard ,with illustrations, and a brief history on the origin of the Rhodesian Ridgeback. This little booklet is a must for every breeder.
